- 2.5 Reasons to Hire a Wedding Videographer in 2025
Whether you’re getting married in the New Year or have just started planning your 2026 wedding, hiring a videographer is one item on your to-do list you don’t want to skip. There are many reasons why you should consider professional videography, but in honor of 2025, let’s break it down to 2.5… get it? 1. Preserve memories One thing we hear all the time from clients is how fast their wedding flew by. Between all the high emotions, excitement, and action-packed schedule, it’s impossible to take it all in at once. That’s where video can help. Capturing your day as it unfolds etches it into a permanent memory that you can revisit for years to come. Looking back, you can relive all the moments and emotions that made your wedding special. And a videographer won’t just capture the big moments. Often, brides are surprised by all the little details we record and include in their videos. Decorations, interactions with guests, the special, intimate moments you share with your partner in the middle of it all– these are all fleeting parts of your day that video can preserve forever. Another bonus– you can share your wedding video with friends and family who are unable to attend your special day. 2. Professionalism Today, anyone can film a video. Most of us are walking around with cameras that are of a higher quality than top-end models from 20 years ago. But here’s the catch: while your iPhone can capture 4K footage, only a professional can deliver the experience that matches that quality. In addition to our industry-standard gear, wedding videographers work tirelessly to create a product that you love. We collaborate with you throughout your wedding day to ensure we’re giving you the experience you deserve. What this adds up to for you is peace of mind. Working with professionals means you have one less thing to worry about, and one more reason to get excited about your wedding. Wedding videographers are highly skilled and experienced– not just in creating videos, but in providing a service that elevates your day. Think of it this way: most of your adult guests know how to mix a cocktail, but if you had the option of hiring a professional bartender, who would you rather have pouring the drinks? 2.5. Why not? For many of us, New Year’s is a time for reflection and growth. If you’ve been on the fence about hiring a videographer, hopefully this post has given you the nudge to give it a shot. Over the past 5 years, we’ve worked with dozens of couples. And nearly all of them have said the same thing: they’re so glad they hired a videographer. They’re so happy they have a video to look back on, and they wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. Prices add up quickly when planning your wedding. But with flexible rates and customizable packages, wedding videography just might be cheaper than you think. Get in touch today to learn more about what a wedding videographer can do for you!
- Peek behind the scenes with a wedding videographer
Wondering what a wedding videographer does? We've been shooting weddings since 2021, and this post will give you a glimpse into our process. (Want to see for yourself? Check out some of our behind the scenes videos: https://www.instagram.com/p/Chp5GVmAaE0/ https://www.instagram.com/p/Cge3FtBgsN1/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CfCkIujAXTI/ ) Here are the five things we do at every wedding: 1. Work alongside the couple As a rule, the first thing we do when we arrive at a wedding is check in with the couple. After months of planning, we'll be excited to get to work capturing your special day! We'll touch base with you and let you know we're on the clock. From now until the end of the night, our goal is to make you look your best. Let us know if anything has come up, including scheduling changes, notes about the venue, or if you've remembered any last-minute details you want us to film for your video. (We'll discuss all of this in a call weeks before your wedding, but we're prepared for anything!) 2. Collaborate with the photographer, DJ, and other vendors Our job as videographers would not be possible without the hard work of your other vendors. From your coordinator keeping track of the schedule to your DJ providing us with clean sound, we appreciate all the help we can get! We'll keep open communication with the vendors throughout the day to make sure we're all on the same page. Typically, we'll be most involved with your photographer, whom we'll be working side-by-side with for the duration of your wedding. We'll make a game plan for the ceremony and reception, and work together closely on capturing detail shots with you and your other half. We'll do our best to help each other be successful by sticking to the golden rule: stay out of each other's shots! 3. Film the 'main events' Capturing footage of the ceremony and reception is the most obvious part of a videographer's job. While the 'main events' are the highest-stakes parts of the wedding, proper preparation can make them the easiest part of the day. We capture everything from two angles, ensuring quality across cameras and giving you a unique perspective for the finished video. As mentioned above, we'll also collaborate with your DJ to record high-quality audio. We also always clip a lavalier microphone to the groom's lapel as a back-up. During the ceremony and reception, our goal is to get the best recordings we can while staying as out of the way as possible. We recognize that it's your special day, and we're committed to letting you live in the moment while we capture it for future viewing. 4. Capture B-Roll While we stay out of the way during the 'main events,' we'll be more hands-on when capturing B-Roll, or shots of anything that isn't part of the ceremony or reception. In our pre-wedding call, we'll talk about must-capture details that we'll make sure to film at your wedding. B-Roll shots include your venue, decorations, guests, floral arrangements, cake, rings, and most importantly, you! Through working with your photographer, we might ask you to pose with each other for some quick shots. Many couples decide to do this during cocktail hour and/or at golden hour (about 1 hour before sunset). The B-Roll we capture will add texture and visual interest to your video, making your special day look even more incredible. That said, we never ask couples to do anything they're uncomfortable with. We're also cognizant that the time we spend posing you is time you're spending away from your guests. We do our best to work quickly and efficiently, so that we can make you to look your best while not getting in the way of you experiencing your wedding. 5. Turn your vision into a reality Finally, and most importantly, wedding videographers turn your vision into a reality. Through proper planning-- both with you and your vendors-- we capture moments that make your special day unforgettable. There's no limit to what we'll film in pursuit of creating a product that blows you away. Ready to learn more? - Why should you hire a wedding videographer?
I started shooting weddings in 2021. Since then, I've learned how important the services wedding videographers offer are to couples. Here are some of my takeaways: • The power of video: Videography comes with unique advantages that make it important to many couples. While photos are a great way to remember moments from your wedding, videography ensures each moment is captured as it happens. We offer customizable packages, which include short highlight videos, long-form broadcast videos (45+ min.), and everything in between. • Ease of mind: I take a non-invasive approach, allowing moments to happen naturally and capturing details that make your day special. My goal is to stay out of the way as much as possible, and to keep the focus on you. Your wedding day will fly by, but together we can make a video that will capture it exactly as it happened. • More than just a video: Pressing 'record' is just one of many steps we take to capture your wedding. We use our expertise and creative vision to create a compelling and memorable portrayal of your day. With your input, we create a style that represents your wedding that is personal to you. Years from now, you can look back on your videos and relive the day as it happened. By investing in wedding videography, you are making a decision to tell your story on your terms. We collaborate with you to make your vision of your perfect day a reality, and one that you can look back on for years to come. Get in touch today!
- What can you expect from your wedding videographer?
My name is Linus and I run LML Productions, a wedding videography company serving the DMV and New England. I’ve been making wedding videos since 2021 and am currently booking into 2026. Here’s some information about what you can expect if you decide to work with me! Before your wedding The first step is getting in touch! You can reach out via email, Facebook, Instagram, etc. I’ll send over pricing info and schedule a call with you to go over all the details about your wedding. We’ll discuss the schedule, your desired style for the video, must-capture details, and more. After the call, I’ll send over a contract for you to look over and sign. The contract puts everything that we’ve already talked about in writing to make sure we’re both on the same page. I’ll also ask for a deposit (usually 33% of the total cost) to reserve your spot on our calendar. At this stage, I’m open to any questions you might have about the paperwork. I strive to make things as straightforward as possible, and am here to make things as easy for you as possible. Once you sign the contract and put down your deposit, congratulations– you’re officially booked! At your wedding We’ll arrive at least an hour before your first event (first look, ceremony, or getting ready) to get set up. We’ll check in with you, your coordinator, and other vendors to prepare for the big day. This includes touching base with your photographer, who we’ll be working with closely throughout the day. During your wedding, our goal is to get the best shots we can while being as out-of-the-way as possible. We want to capture your special day while keeping the focus on you. After your wedding Thanks for having us! We’ll get to work on editing your wedding video and will keep you posted with our progress. Generally, we can turn your special day into the video of your dreams in 1-2 weeks. When it’s ready, we’ll send you the videos along with a final invoice. If everything looks good, we’re all set! Hopefully this explanation was helpful and gives you a better sense of what to expect from working with a wedding videographer. The bottom line: Our top priority is you. Throughout our working relationship, we’re here to help! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at: linus@lmlproductions.com
